About Me
My interest in working in fitness and rehabilitation developed around 2004, and after several years of working as cabin crew, a holiday rep in Gran Canaria for Thomson holidays and also as a Beauty Therapist on a Cruise Ship, I then completed the Premier International Diploma in Personal Training, Sports Massage and Nutrition. I also completed my qualification to teach Exercise to Music alongside this, and commenced my first job in fitness, working in David Lloyd in West Sussex as a Personal Trainer and group exercise instructor
I also completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine - Level 3 Certified Personal Trainer, as well as the specialisation in Youth Exercise and the Older Adult.
After 2 years, I then moved to Bermuda to continue working as a Personal Trainer, Sports Massage therapist, Group Exercise Instructor and also as a Studio Coordinator for several years.
During this time I continued learning, and completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine for Corrective Exercise Specialist.
After several years of gaining broad experience with varied clients, and teaching multiple formats of group exercise including Les Mills and Zumba, I then considered the possibility of getting a degree in Physiotherapy, and after completing an Access course, I made the decision to move to the North East of England in to study full time and gain my BSc in Physiotherapy at Northumbria University, graduating in 2018.
I then transitioned to working for the NHS as a rotational physiotherapist, working in Musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, chronic pain clinic and also in Care of the Elderly for 3 years.
Since gaining qualifications and experience across the industries of exercise, fitness and rehabilitation , this has enabled me to gain a strong understanding and knowledge of the 'whole person' approach to optimising exercise and injury recovery/prevention.
My interest in fitness and exercise developed after leaving school, when I started training in TaeKwon Do, initially to help build my confidence, but also to improve my asthma symptoms that had limited me since early childhood. I gained my black belt in 2005 after 10 years of training, which was one of the proudest moments of my life.
I then continued to build my fitness with running and completed the 2014 Brighton Marathon, and around this time, also discovered my love for Crossfit when joining my first gym in West Sussex. Crossfit has been the staple form of fitness in my life since then, and continues to do so.
My long-term goal has always been to open a clinic where I can utilise all the skills and knowledge I have gained over the years, and opening the clinic in Crossfit Darlington, enables me to do this, in an environment that I love being part of.
